Jess, who works as a realtor, manages a house on the Louisiana Bayou for her family. A vacation will take place at the home while Jess prepares it for sale. John and Jessica argue about whether to eat hamburgers or veal cutlets for dinner.

Anna and John are invited for a veal dinner by Jessica. Anna contacts Isaac at the store and flirts with him. John’s receipt contains a cryptic message that reads:

The devil is observing you.

When Jess requests John if he got the veal, he lies and says it was sold out.

Soon after Isaac arrives at the door, his Grandpappy, the store owner, cooks veal for Jess and John, exposing John’s lie. Isaac is hostile to John during dinner and he tortures the three family members with vague threats.

While Isaac is away, Grandpappy performs a record for Isaac. During a conversation on the disc, John reveals his plans to refer his family to Vivienne.

Despite John’s denials, Isaac forces John outside, where he reveals that Isaac and Grandpappy murdered Jess for him as a payoff. Isaac claims he is handling the situation now because Grandpappy insists John is a terrible husband and father.

John returns to find Jess divorcing him and stating he has been gaslighted. After joining him in a room, Isaac divorces him. Isaac uses John’s phone to lure Vivienne to the door. Jess burns Vivienne for her crimes, instead of Grandpappy who forces Anna to scorch her.

A coyote slays John inside the locked room, and Jess murders Grandpappy and Isaac for the torturous evening.

They report the incident to the police, but the house is repaired and the terrain is untouched. As Isaac and his Grandpappy ride back to the station.
